Covoiturage
Carpooling app built for the Moroccan market. Driver-passenger matching, integrated payments, real-time trip tracking.
Covoiturage is the first carpooling app built specifically for the Moroccan context — from provincial towns to highway corridors. We designed the complete experience: from trip search to payment, including all driver-passenger communication in between.
The Market
Morocco's intercity transport network is underdeveloped for short to medium distances. Thousands of people hitchhike or rely on informal shared taxis daily. Covoiturage formalizes and secures these exchanges through a simple, accessible mobile app.
Context-First UX
We conducted user interviews with drivers and passengers in Casablanca, Marrakech, and Meknes. The result: an interface designed for 3G connectivity, offline-capable for critical data, and offering voice prompts in Darija.
Core Features
Trip posting in 3 steps, automatic driver-passenger matching by route, integrated chat, real-time location, and a two-way rating system. Payment works in cash or via CMI — the two most widely used methods in Morocco.
Launch
Released in closed beta with 200 users in Casablanca, the app reached 1,800 active users in 6 weeks with zero paid advertising. Word of mouth was the primary growth driver. User satisfaction sits at 4.6/5 on both app stores.
